Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is based on many popular scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The show uses various pyrotechnic devices which are incorporated into several of the stunts. Audience members are chosen from the crowd to perform; they are not used for the dangerous stunts, but as extras to show off the special effects which are available to Hollywood in movies. Look around for a man wearing a brightly colored usually violet, tropical shirt. That is the stuntman who portrays the goofy character.

Some of the classic scenes include the temple scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indiana Jones defies various traps to finally retrieve the Idol, only to be confronted by a 12-foot rolling stone ball. A scene from a Cairo street market is one of the audience participation scenes, where a mock fight breaks out as Indiana Jones attempts to escape pursuers.

The climax to the show features a scene where Jones destroys a plane and fuel dump, in a ball of fire, the heat from which can easily be felt by most of the audience.

• The show's theater can hold 2085 members of the audience.
• The large rolling ball featured in the show weighs over 400 pounds.
• This is the first theme park attraction to use a computer based show control system in conjunction with a custom made programmable logic controller system to trigger, control and sequence complex live events in real time, controlled by the actors in many cases. The control system was based on the Amiga computer with software by Richmond Sound Design Ltd. This began a trend in live stunt shows with both Disney and Universal Studios opening many more similar attractions over the next eight years.
