Guests got the first glimpse of “Path of the Jedi,” a 10-minute film exclusive for Disneyland guests in celebration of Season of the Force, a new “Star Wars”-themed takeover of Tomorrowland.

The primer recaps the first six “Star Wars” films and shows a preview of the new episode, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which will premiere in December. The Walt Disney Co. bought Lucasfilm Ltd. in 2012. It begins construction of a “Star Wars” land next year.

The trailer follows the journey of Luke Skywalker with Obi-Wan narrating the beginning of the young man's humble path to Jedi. There are scenes of young Luke confronting Darth Vader, how Vader was seduced by the Dark Side, and Vader telling Luke that he is his father. It ends with the epic fight between Vader and Emperor Palpatine, when the former Sith Lord sacrificed himself to save his son. There are also scenes of Princess Leia and Han Solo.

“The Force has awakened,” said Scott Trowbridge, creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, who is in charge of Season of the Force and the coming “Star Wars” land. “This is a great reminder of what we love about Star Wars - the action, adventure, humor and the epic story.”

The short film is in 4D, which means the seats shake and wind blows on guests to accompany the action on the screen. This is the theater where the Michael Jackson 3D movie “Captain EO” played for years.
